Today's ToDoooo!

1) Leaders Must Be... video (stop at about 2:25) We have a lot to do today, so here is a little motivational video to get you going. While you watch, write down the one quote that you want to remember while you work today. You cannot move on to do work outside of the class until you've done so.

2) Sharing Learning

  • We Day Sharing (girls, tell us what you learned, saw, loved, etc...)
  • Solana's thoughts about the Youth Conference she attended.
3) To Do List

Energy Ambassadors http://www.bchydro.com/community/youth_education/energy_reviews.html - All of the leadership classes from the other high schools are sending a team of students willing to be "trained" (indoctrinated) by BC Hydro to become the school's energy ambassadors (people who tell people to turn their lights off and power down computers, etc...). The EcoTeam does not really trust that a money making corporation like BC Hydro has an honest agenda, but I say... this is something that you can put on your resume, scholarship applications, etc... that is relatively easy to accomplish and it gets you a day at Vanier mixing and mingling with other leadership students. I need three to eight people to sign up, and then we can spend Thursday away from school. You get credit for this class by going. Who's in? Did I mention that there is free lunch? I need names TODAY.

Bake Sale Girls - go to office and ask to roll up and count and deposit money

Concession - we left a mess of dishes! Eeeek. Please wash all the pans, etc... that we used and discuss plans for this Thursday. Make a to-do list for Thursday. What did we learn from the chaos of last week? What do you need to buy? (I can get it for you)

Spirit Week - great ideas but the advertising and organization has been very weak. I put up your banner and made the point system for AG's and advertised in FB, but today you need to cover the school in those little posters (on outside bench) and write up an announcement for tomorrow, and why not make a slideshow  for the TV's - ask Ms. Jerome in the library about this.

Haunted House - love the plans, keep it building! Recruit helpers as needed...

Bullying Awareness/Compassion Building Group - have a group discussion and keep notes. Talk about our school culture... is Highland safe? Can we make Highland a nicer place to be? What do we think of our crazy teacher's online opinion piece: http://blogs.vancouversun.com/2012/10/17/amanda-todd-and-our-culture-of-meanness/ Can we ask our students to be less mean? Can we be ordinary heroes and stand up to meanness?

Others - find the list on the back blackboard... what can you be working on?
